It's got to be. That crease in the tailgate that aligns with the red/yellow border on the taillight. That's very distinctive and it took me about 3 seconds to identify it.

That's freakishly impressive to someone like me who barely notices different cars. I was wondering how you posted that so quickly.

It was freakish to me too. I just looked at it and suddenly I saw a Chrysler Pacifica.
I do a lot of driving and I keep myself amused by focusing on all the cars and building up a mental database of all the cars I commonly see. I never really see Pacificas much anymore. I can go several days between sightings.
I would actually really like a game where it shows you a real close up of one part of a car and you have to guess what car it is.

Weird. I can see all details if someone points them out, (like you mentioned the tail light crease lining up with the color border on the light) but I can't make them stick in my head. If I show up somewhere and stroll through the neighborhood/parking lot wondering if any of my friends have shown up yet, I have to glance at the license plates to spot their cars.

That's funny because I can't remember license plates worth a damn (unless it's an obnoxious vanity plate). I barely know my own. If someone came in the night and switched my plates it's a 50/50 chance I'd even notice.
Faces. I suck at remembering faces too.

I'm good with alphanumeric strings, so I stick to my strengths. One dark color sedan mostly looks like another to me. I'm not great at faces either. It's just interesting that the body contours and design choices on cars stick with some people so easily. It makes me feel like there is whole language of design to things that I'm missing - some interesting way that people assemble parts into a whole concept in their minds.
I got pretty good at identifying a few vintage motorcycle tanks and fairings because of a weird job I took for a while, but it didn't stick with me at all.

What I've been trying to figure out, and I don't know the word for this but there must be one, is what is that thing where you can listen to a song you haven't heard before and just know immediately it's an '80s song? There's some like essence of '80s music (and the same for '50s,'60s,'70s music). It goes for cars too. You can see a car and just know that's a '90s car.

That's really interesting. You'd think there would a word for that in music or fashion or interior design or architecture or something. Some kind of collection of trends and traits that, when expressed all together, give the impression of a certain era.
