This book is kind of nice. The first chapter was mostly about the final moments of planet Earth before we're introduced to the character of Greg who is dealing with the loss of his wife. There are two supercomputers and one of them has a version of her that he would like to save before the computer is powered down. The last lifeform on Earth was bioluminescent algae and the world was mostly just rock, dry soil, and water. The plants died out. Humanity ventured outward into the stars for brighter pastures while on Earth another species evolved to show promise but was destroyed before they could construct their own Giza Pyramids or Great Wall of China. They were neither reptile or mammal.
