So they know not to try to deliver to an office on the weekend, for instance?

It is possible using USPS Informed Delivery, or the carrier's similar service(USPS and FedEx both have one). However if it was being delivered yesterday, it is probably too late, and they will try to deliver again Monday.

Click Change delivery date below your monthly delivery date.
Use the calendar to select your new delivery day.
Click Confirm
