Topic: Pope confirms 2nd miracle of Cardinal John Newman. England set for its first saint in centuries!

Father Merrin !u5oFWxmY7U started this discussion 7 years ago #84,160

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-birmingham-47228423

The Pope has officially confirmed that the 19th century English priest Cardinal Newman has cured a pregnant woman of unstoppable bleeding. This makes it Cardinal Newman's 2nd confirmed miracle (his first was when his spirit was proven to have answered a man's prayer and cured him of his spinal disease), thus qualifying him for a sainthood.

Very exciting times for England. This will be their first saint since the Reformation!!

Cardinal John Newman. How many children did he sexually abuse. How many molesting priests did he protect and reassign.

The miracle is he molested 30 children and not one of them mentioned it. Hallelujah praise the Lord!

None? Odds are he molested children. Odds are if he were of sound mind, he fucked a few Nuns. Odds are he got a few pregnant and forced them to have abortions.

Catholic clergy very bad people overall.

That's really their shtick. Vague second-hand accounts from decades or centuries ago are substantive proof when it comes to gospel apologetics and verifying miracles. Hundreds or thousands of reports of sexual misconduct from living people are barely worth noticing though. Apparently, they think evidence only happens in old books and documents.

Somehow these so called saints can stop the bleeding of one person yet cannot stop a pedophile Priest - Bishop - Cardinal - Pope, from raping a child.

Don't we know how to stop bleeding now? Isn't that pretty well understood? Don't medical professionals do that all the time? Why is that a miracle? This guy's other miracle involved some dude praying about him after a complicated surgery. That's less a miracle and more just straight misattribution. If some person gets Shake it Off stuck in their head in the dentist's waiting room and it goes through their head during a root canal, I don't think Taylor Swift's magic fixed their teeth. Why is it okay for these priests to steal all the glory from doctors actually doing the work?

300 years? Try 2010 for the first miracle and earlier this month for the second!

As for the verification:

"An expectant mother was suffering from unstoppable internal bleeding which threatened the life of her child in the womb,” the diocese of Westminster said on its website.

“She had long been a devotee of Blessed John Henry, and in prayer she directly and explicitly invoked Newman’s intercession to stop the bleeding. The miraculous healing was immediate, complete, and permanent.”

The miracles were in 2010 and 2019, not "decades or centuries ago". But don't let such pesky things as 'facts' get in the way of your narrative.

> Hundreds or thousands of reports of sexual misconduct from living people are barely worth noticing though.

On the contrary, the Catholic hierarchy leads the way in fighting sexual abuse.

> Apparently, they think evidence only happens in old books and documents.

Lol, oh you're the "evidence" guy from the other thread. The one who thinks an accusation constitutes the legal definition of "evidence". Very well, carry on with your baseless waffle. You amuse me when you write it :) And have yourself a blessed evening my child!

This Cardinal - He died 11 August 1890. People century plus later pray to a dead Cardinal? Why a dead Cardinal and not the son of God or God herself?
Yea I know people pray to dead virgin Mary. To bad the people of USA did not pray to this Cardinal during the ‎September 11, 2001 Bin Laden attack.

> This Cardinal - He died 11 August 1890. People century plus later pray to a dead Cardinal? Why a dead Cardinal and not the son of God or God herself?

Because the "dead Cardinal" had already been beatified, which if you don't know what that means (you clearly don't) is a recognition accorded by the Catholic Church of a dead person's entrance into Heaven and their capacity to intercede on behalf of individuals who pray in his or her name.

We've been over this before Syntax but I shall nonetheless repeat it: you would be better able to join in these discussions if you had the first clue what you are talking about.

> To bad the people of USA did not pray to this Cardinal during the ‎September 11, 2001 Bin Laden attack.

I agree. Perhaps then it wouldn't have happened.

Holy Fuck!!! I should be recognized as a saint!!!

Check this out. My next door neighbor's kid was outside and cut himself picking up a piece of broken glass to throw away.

Me, the cool neighbor that I am, put a bandaid on his cut, and the bleeding stopped.

Whew, poor kid could have bled to death if it wasn't for my quick thinking.

It's certainly possible.

Wait, was that it? Where's the rest? You ended your story early, where is the miracle part? You've written only up the point where you applied a bandaid to a wound and it stemmed the blood. Where's the part that is "not explicable by natural or scientific laws", i.e, the 'miracle'?
