Not Bert or Meta, but I have a feeling Becky might be interested in a humble turkey's opinion. This recent article in The American Conservative blames Trump support on evangelicals who don't attend church. The American Conservative isn't exactly known for it's scathing take on the American religious right. I think it's telling that even the values-voters are looking for reasons to get off the Trump train by blaming pretend-Christians.
This article is sort of a Ben Shapiro op-ed in the NYT for its thing-in-a-place-it-shouldn't-be-ness. They start it off with a comment by Reza Aslan, whom evangelist voters might not remember but are sure to hate. (Never mind that Aslan's book is basically a retread of SGF Brandon's book Jesus and the Zealots published in the 60s which is about Jesus being a rebel leader of oppressed people) Anyway, it's a fun read about how actually religious people who actually read the Bible and notice the passages about welcoming strangers and offering them hospitality are aghast at Trump's stupid policies.

You do know that the teachings of jesus render the old testament void basically right? That's why Christians are supposed to be different from Jewish

There is nothing in the New Testament that voids the Old testament.
False Dichotomy.

When Jesus came to earth, he fulfilled the prophesies of the Old Testament. He also released the people that accepted him from the old laws and rules they had to follow.

The old testament contains the word of god, but the people were living the old law (sometimes to referred to as the lesser law). Jesus fulfilled that Law and introduced a new law (referred to as the higher law). The old testament has very "physical" requirements, such as blood sacrifices, eye for an eye, only walk so many steps on the sabbath, etc. After Jesus fulfilled that law, he introduced a new law that is more spiritual and more of a 1 on 1 relationship with God rather then following all the physically rigid laws of the old testament.
The basic teachings of the Old testament are still valid, but the laws followed are now those introduced by Jesus not those contained in the old testament.

But, ya know, opinions. I had always learned it that way, and that's why sacrifices of goats and stuff aren't wanted anymore
