The placement of the fish on the plate is internally symmetrical in the pairings of fish parts while the overall presentation enjoys a certain lack of balance. The plating really brings home the message that even natural pairings can result in glaring asymmetry when seen from a different perspective. The rejection of natural harmony present in the gestalt, even one brought about by a seemingly ordered process, is reminiscent of some of Klimt's more notable pieces from his "golden phase".
