I think the gentile equivalent should be the 12th birthday, the day 12-years-olds can use the stove to pop in microwavable taquitos and mini tacos.

And instead of reading Hebrew stuff out of the Torah, the parents present the kid with a Hot Pocket™ and there's a little ceremony where the kid reads the directions, unwraps the pocket, puts it in the little cardboard sleeve on a paper plate inside the microwave, shuts the door, and punches 2,0,0,start on the control panel and everyone starts clapping and cheering.

I think I attended 3 or 4 prep classes with a Rabbi. Forced by mom. I told the Rabbi I was studying the Baptist religion. Only true because I was reading a series of books about Baptist then Episcopal's etc. Bottom line. Rabbi was perplexed on how to proceed and I skated out of Bar Mitzvah and that ended my connection with said religion.

@previous (J)It reminds me of old typewriter keyboards. They didn't have 0 or 1 keys so you had to type numbers like that.
