It failed to make its budget back, but it wasn't a total financial flop.

So they lost 28 million and only achieved a 5/10 on imdb and a 6/10 on metacritic, I don't get why she so offended that they are trying again.

I look at it this way as the Businessman in me as well as Engineer.

Though 2016′s “Ghostbusters” raked in a $229 million at the worldwide box office, the movie received mixed reviews. The Guardian called the film “a misfiring remake,” while Variety said it “suffers from a disappointingly strong case of déjà vu.”

Who gives a fuck about mixed reviews when the Movie made money. Not a blockbuster because a Movie needs to make 4X the cost to make the investors happy and that movie cost $144 Million to make. - I have not taken time to view it. I am not much of a fan of one of the stars - Could be talked into a view but there are so so many movies available to view and so little tyme

Ghostbusters grossed $128.3 million in North America and $100.8 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $229.1 million, with a net production budget of $144 million. Due to the large amount spent on marketing, the studio stated that the film would need to gross at least $300 million to break even.

Back in the day - Wayyyyyy long ago I was a VP of a famous and still famous Movie Studio - Was NOT there to make Movies - Was there to give pay back to Sony for winning a Supreme court decision against our Movie Studio re Beta Max time delayed play for home use.

But in that time I was somewhat in view of cost to make a movie and cost to market and such. Thing is I was given access to Cooked set of Books that were frankly set up to make a Movie lose Money in huge amounts - As far as the Producers and Stars of the movies were concerned.

They at the time had many hit TV shows and one starred James Garner and it was a super hit yet books showed it lost a bloody fortune so the Star who was supposed to get a cut of profits got NOTHING NADA ZILCH.

Took him Years to figure out Why - He did and sued and won - The biz can be rigged and hard to figure out - I never did figure out the real what it cost vs what it has to make to break even.

Never a fan of marketing - Still how will you find out about a new movie? Word of mouth? By the time you find out the movie is nowhere to be viewed and you have to wait until someone buys it to show and then you're lucky if it's not cut up to fit or even censored.
