Topic: Why is there not enough memory?

Catherine !ttGirlsPl2 started this discussion 7 years ago #83,214

Externally hosted imageI have 16 GB of RAM and it's only being used at 44%.

I am a fucking retard at computers.

Minichan takes at least 32GB of RAM to load. Just switch to the low memory version of the Minichan bumps page. There should be an option on the dashboard.

@OP

> I am a fucking retard

Is that why you've never had a job despite being almost 30?

Whenever I open up Chrome it always crashes and it told me there wasn’t enough memory to open Facebook. I cannot even run Amazon Music desktop app with it and this is the first time it is happening. It never did this before. The CPU usuages shoots up to around 94% plus whenever I run Chrome. I have fucking 16 gigabytes of fucking RAM so why the fucking is my memory and cpu usuage almost at a a quarter of its use? FUCK!

Have you tried disabling extensions, to see if that has any impact? Do you have (m)any pinned tabs? Any funky looking plugins or extensions you don't remember installing (crypto miners are a common culprit)? Might be worth checking Chrome's task manager (Shift + Esc) to see if anything specific is hogging RAM or CPU.

Is the pagefile enabled in Windows? (If not, probably enable it.)

I haven't tried the extensions yet and I usually only keep three to four tabs open. I hate having multiple tabs constantly open.

I keep forgetting that Chrome has its own task manager.

Indeed task manager is the window to any hogging issues. You could also load a simple app that will map exactly what your "drive" hard or soft contains.

And on the subject of maps you and I need to chat soon in MC chat.

That’s not normal I’ve had 8 GiB of RAM since like 2011 and never had to upgrade yet. Chrome still works fine. You probably have some shit antivirus and a million shitty programs open in the background filling your system tray up

That is true, yes, I do have a lot of problems running in the background, but other than the ones I know are running (Steam, Dropbox, etc.) they'll all Windows and NVida programs mostly.

In task manager turn off every unimportant program. (steam etc) Then slowly turn them back on - one at a time. Go slow and turn off device and turn back on. When Chrome crashes you will discover what is jamming you up.

My usual solution to this is to just restart my PC. I'll try this next time.

Yep Task Manager is your friend. Just opening your Chrome browser, which is a light load on a PC and then with limited Tabs - Truly odd that the browser Wood Crash - Beyond Odd. Yet You suffered needlessly because of a crappy Router for a very long time.

Of course I am motivated to remind you that one day you can confess to your mom she had not need to buy a new Router - but that Wood give who I be away.

And I do need to PM you in IRC Chat

His computer has a virus probably because Cathy clicks on ads and downloads too many “free” games

If per chance she had a virus it could hide by calling itself Service host xyz because in Win 10 there are oodles of things called Sevice host and not even I have a clue exactly what each is doing much less even one (could look them up but have not)

Back in 1997 or so - Someone sent me a gift that was just an annoying audio bug/virus - I had to look at each of those background services until I found one not listed by MicroShit ( I must admit so far with one exception Win 10 has been glitch free

I don't even get this on my Raspberry Pi with 1 (one) GB DDR2 RAM, let alone my real desktop with 8GB DDR3 RAM.
