I agree with the position. Not ditching allied YPG units that the US pledged to protect is important. It looks like vague Twitter threats are about all the protection Trump can offer though. After Trump's abrupt pullout was walked back to a slow pullout when US Generals balked at the order, Erdogan knows Trump isn't committed to doing anything except looking for cover under a few empty threats on his way out the door.
Trump is certainly making the right noises, but he's a small yapping dog at this point. Turkey knows that Trump's US is just empty threats at this point. I'm sure Erdogan will make some vague promises that Trump will "believe" and then do whatever he wants when the US is gone.
