When something extra is perceived in things, perhaps something beautiful in a subtle form you can't recognize, spiritual feelings and explanations can often do the trick to help a person understand. You can't feel spiritual about technology though, or can you?

well when I first saw pictures in magazines that put the idea of objects in my mind, but with the knowledge that they only existed as defined by a computer, it was a weird sensation of seeing into a world that has no light with which to see objects that are not there

I always liked how Scientology scriptures were called "tech". It's not religion (except for tax purposes...) it's spiritual technology.

Sounds like a dark psychotic place yet you described a magazine experience. Maybe we ought to be feeling more spiritual but the world around us has robbed us of it.
