I am currently playing an old record that my aunt gave me for Christmas ? that belonged to my grandfather.
Interesting how the older record is playing without any skips yet my Poppy one always skips on “Let’s Make A Video” and “My Style” and my The Last Jedi records skip throughout the entire album.

I feel like a kid again with my first CD player ? and that feels weird considering that vinyl records came before CD-ROMS.

They always made things to last in the old days, also perhaps your configuration is wrong for the last jedi.

Even more obscure! He's even more talented than you'd expect a third cousin to be!

One of the last brand new records I heard sounded so shitty I was very angry
It was so overhot on the high end that it was almost screechy
piece of shit

That is why one needs old gear like this. Makes it easy to cut off the top end. Vinyl ticks and clicks can be filtered out as well.

There is literally no reason to own an equalizer ???

don't you love changing the EQ for every new record you put on though

@previous (WTF?)
you could also just not listen to poorly made records
Captain Kate Carr double-posted this 7 years ago, 15 seconds later, 8 hours after the original post[^][v]#951,371
or use the treble knob

Does stupid run in your family? A treble knob is a poor mans equalizer.

One problem with that. Actually so many costly problems with that.
True Hi-Fi is extraordinarily costly. Hi end speakers alone can run in the 10's of thousands $ or Eu. The Amps can run thousands.

the majority of people would not hear any discernable level of quality between the highest end product and midrange offerings..
how about them bananas..

treble knob wasn't satisfactory, neither was a digital equivalent graphic equalizer
because the source audio off the record was so fuckin shit
Sometimes someone uploads dance/electro type music on youtube and I can tell that it came from vinyl when it sounds like shit in the same way that I had described
I swear, if someone wants the so-called warm natural sound of vinyl, just play CDs next to a tub full of rice crispies

Based on the level of food people talk about here. Ordinary people cannot even be bothered trying alternate brands of pizza, and end up stuck with ugh.

you seem to be under the impression that an equalizer improves sound quality for some reason. why??
Anonymous J replied with this 7 years ago, 10 minutes later, 2 days after the original post[^][v]#952,079
@previous (Captain Kate Carr) > an equalizer improves sound quality
Even the most rudimentary mixing board contains equalizers to improve sound quality.
Basic public addressing systems have them to prevent feedback.
Improper recorded content uploaded to youtube may require frequency correction when downloaded to prevent ear wigs.
Home and professional audio speakers, have crossover filters aka equalizers built in for the low and high end speakers.
