Topic: Is it weird that I feel spiritual if I am close to anything astronomical?

Catherine !ttGirlsPl2 started this discussion 7 years ago #82,309

I was messing around with Universe Sandbox 2 and everything about that game as well as the soundtrack gave me a spiritual feeling in the depths of my soul.

It gets me thinking more about the universe and in a sense makes me feel closer to God than ever. Is this normal?

The spiritual is something that often doesn't have a proper place to exist. I don't want to sound blasphemous or perverted but for the sake of simplicity, let's compare sexuality to spirituality. There's only rules about when sex shouldn't be involved, otherwise sexuality leaks into everything at any time, it is that way because there's no subscribe "proper" place for it. The same goes for spirituality, it isn't the case that you are "very spiritual" right now but rather you are spiritual these days and its leaking into stuff.

Do you sometimes feel like settling an intergalactic war by trapping your enemies inside volcanoes?

Sometimes, but only when I am feeling really really evil (which still isn't that evil) and volcanoes never come to my mind.

I think that particular mixture of fear and wonder at something so vast and powerful is a pretty common vehicle for inspiring spiritual or religious feelings. The vastness of space does it for a lot of people. Appreciating the sheer scale of things in relation to yourself can be a pretty humbling experience.

I did a Solar System simulation where I blew up the Earth on 2019/01/01 @ 00:01. Sixteen days after that, the Moon went into orbit around the sun. I gave it the new name Mobius after someone elsewhere requested it. The Tesla roadster which was included in the simulation was flung out close to Mars but soon went into orbit around the sun. The orbit overlaps both Mars and Mobius. It overlaps Mobius twice so I'm anticipating it would collide with one of those two worlds someday. Mobius seems most likely.

Those Teslas seem to be crashing into everything lately.

That image was taken closer to the time the planet exploded.
This is after the fragments traveled some distance.

Mobius after a fragment of Earth crashed into it. It must have been a big fragment.

Just an interesting solar eclipse where the dot in the middle is the tail.
