1. If you ask the people who work there to do something, they will never do it by the promised deadline. It will be done sloppily.
2. If you try to print something yourself, you will experience the following:
A. The printer/copier can take up to 10 minutes calculating how much it will charge you.
B. You will ask the Staples Associate if it should take this long. He will say "no" and will come cancel the transaction and start you on a new printer.
C. On the new printer, you will get the same delay. You will ask the Staples Associate, again, if something is wrong. He will say oh, it just depends how many pages you have.
D. You will tell him you have 1500 pages, 800 of them in this file.
E. He will tell you to wait a bit longer, "oh, I guess it could take that long."
F. When the printer finally calculates how much you owe, it will then say that it will cost $233 but that, for your protection, transactions over $100 aren't allowed and the order is cancelled.
G. The Staples Associate, when asked, will just say, oh, I forgot about that.
H. He will then offer to do it for you, but you will have to wait.
I. You will decide fine, you'll just print the two color documents you have at Staples, and will do the rest at your office anyway.
J. But then the printer will refuse to print in a normal portrait orientation and will cut off the pages, even with three tries. You will then have to have the Sales Associate print it, adding 5 minutes to the transaction.
K. The entire time, the Sales Associate will be humming Christmas tunes and playing an imaginary piano.
L. You will have spent 45 minutes in a Staples and have gotten a total of 5 pages printed. You still have to go back to your office and print the rest. Your co-counsel wants you to file these documents (an appeal) today.
M. You also have to be at court at 1:30 to argue to try to get someone out of jail before Christmas.

You could buy a decent monochrome laser printer, paper, and toner for less than that one print job. How do you not have a dedicated office printer for legal documents?
