Topic: What is hypnotherapy?

Anonymous A started this discussion 15 years ago #8,174

Is it effective in treating insomnia/depression and other mental conditions? Is it a costly form of treatment and who are the people qualified to practice it? Also, are there any risks involved?

Placebos have been shown moderately effective at treating depressive conditions. They're pretty cheap, but I can sell you some top quality sugar pills if you'd really like it to be effective.

@previous (protip !!pMmAiEwOm)
Your sarcasm is misdirected, since this is the entire expressed POINT of the procedure--to use the power of imagination and belief in order to archieve a desired effect.

@OP

> Is it effective in treating insomnia/depression and other mental conditions?
Yes, no, maybe.
It's complex, and depends on the source of the problem, the way the patient has dealt with it in the past and the therapist's empathy.
> Is it a costly form of treatment
Yup.
> ad who are the people qualified to practice it?
Use a search-engine of your choice and search for "Hypnotherapy requirements [state]"
> Also, are there any risks involved?
Always, as is the case with every one of the healing arts.

Apples always related.
