It shatters the illusion that I'm clever and unique. For a moment, I wonder if I am just another little predictable little piece of the universe entertaining itself with banal thoughts and emotions. I regret entertaining myself with such thoughts and for congratulating myself for doing so. I wonder if maybe I should be happy that others think the way I do. Maybe that's a good sign? But then I wonder if that is the same kind of shallow thing the others tell themselves. Then I wonder if anyone else is tortured by the same thoughts, and I get depressed that they might be.
