I already lived there. I had to move back to take care of my grandmother. Until recently, I kept the child from the morning until two, because everyone else in the house works during that time. I work an evening shift.

Nothing's wrong with it per se. It's just that often people give the reason of "looking after" someone as an excuse for not finding their own place to live. I needed to be sure in my own mind that Kook is not exploiting her nephew's slowness to save on rent.

Last year there were 13 turkeys, 10 hams, endless mashed potatoes and other vegetables and other food, and 6 of those massive rubbermaid bins full of desserts

Not necessarily, no. But we don't know that nobody is being exploited here. Maybe Kook is a financial burden on her nephew's parents but they're too polite to tell her. Maybe the nephew isn't really slow but is being made to think he is so that Kook can have an excuse to not pay her own way. Again, I just needed to be satisfied in my own mind that Kook is not creating an opportunity for herself to not pay rent.
