Turns out Ghadaffi was planning to also stop selling in USD and was pushing for a pan-african currecy (something they are still planning) made from gold.

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but twice this happens? It would be naive to write that off as a coincidence.

There is no need for powerful men to meet secretly and discuss this, they all know they don't want it, and so they will all support stopping Hussein and Ghaddaffi.
