How much did you pay for the router?

@previous (B)
My mother bought the router as a combination gift for everyone in the household, but we got it for $99 at a discount on Black Friday. The original price tag was around $150 or so though I remember Wal-Mart (where she got it from) listing it for $199.

I asked the question re cost as Anon B.
Cathy you should be ashamed of YeSelf.
Why? Because you damned well NO,Spectrum offers a Free Modem with WiFi - I just again verified that your location includes the Free Modem/WiFi
So like Y did you do this to your Mother? $99 and then the tax on $99 - You are being a very very bad son.
With tons of bandwidth, Spectrum Internet has the fastest starting speeds for the price. Want more? '''Spectrum gives you a FREE modem/wifi FREE antivirus software, and we never cap your data usage. Make sure to add in-home WiFi so you stay connected using multiple devices.

I am not trying to be mean with Cathy and we all no she is a wimp when it comes to solving some of lifes major issues YET Letting her own mom get ripped off for equipment that is totally free for the asking.
$99 could have gone a long way to feed a few homeless.

My mother gives to charity. Though none of those charities are related to resolving human issues. She mostly gives to animal-related institutions.

I remember reading a long time ago that routers that are accompanied by the cable provider usually suck. How good is that Spectrum router?

@945,233 (Catherine !ttGirlsPl2) > How good is that Spectrum router?
I No this will shock you. Spectrum sources multiple brands and they ALL have to meet the minimum standard of meeting the Download and Upload speeds Spectrum advertises. For instance this one Netgear CM600 Standalone modem for the Spectrum Cable DOCSIS 3.0 network. Fully approved for up to 400Mbps download speed package with Spectrum Ultra and 400Mbps. It has 24 bonded download channels and 8 bonded upload channels.
Or you might on any given day end up with a NETGEAR R6700 Nighthawk AC1750 Dual Band Smart WiFi Router, Gigabit Ethernet - A long list of approved and TOTALLY Free Modems with built in Wi-Fi - But they always have at least one model for difficult multi level houses when the Install Tech cannot get the WiFi signal into every room and every corner -
I think you are trying to justify how to get away with ripping off $99 bucks from your Mom just because you failed to let her No she could just walk on in to Spectrum and swap the current Modem for a brand new Modem.
IS it really to late to return the one just bought and go get the FREE ONE?

I suspect that is TracPhone which rides on Verizon network. Shocked that they have filtered the performance so wayyyyyyy down
I had no clue anyone goes that far to connect to a top notch network and hard jams the performance so far down.
This is a case of LTE running at performance levels at the old Analog Motorola specs Back when Verizon was called AirTouch

It’s actually “powered by T-Mobile.”

Yea I now C what I missed. Yet T-Mobil - They have a sorta mish mash of technology - They advertise 4GLTE yet in rural areas offer much less. Still even the much less in no way is as slow as what you show.
Catherine !ttGirlsPl2 (OP) replied with this 7 years ago, 3 minutes later, 3 hours after the original post[^][v]#945,320

Doesn’t “powered by” mean that they just use T-Mobiles’ equipment? The service would be Wal-Mart.
Syntax replied with this 7 years ago, 12 minutes later, 3 hours after the original post[^][v]#945,324
@previous (Catherine !ttGirlsPl2)
Wal-Mart in no way has any service other than as a re-seller. They buy via a contract for service. You could set up a retail business and contract with the major carriers and offer your own brand of service. There are a couple3 exceptions where a company like Consumer Cellular who use AT&T and T-Mobile at the same time and have an outstanding reputation because they have set up a huge customer service operation that operates as a front for the AT&T and T-Mobile operation and has direct lines into each of those companies with agreements for the something extra. But again they really just resale the technical operations contracted4
True you might find Wal-Mart with a customer service line but dooooon't expect much actual service
