yes it is. Terminals are closed when you DC from SSH and it kills the processes attached to those.

They are pretty much the same. Just the initial set-up varies a bit. On a server like a minecraft server get the most minimal Lunix you can setup.

Yeah, SFTP is secure and uses SSH on port 22 to send commands. I believe it uses a second port for the data send/receive. Either way, it's encrypted, so you could just block the FTP ports to discourage plain text authentication.

From my past experiences processes get killed as soon as the SSH connection closes, but I'll try it out later.

Also, all other issues. Minecraft consuming too much ram thus shit/threads being killed by the VM software thus it crashing and rendering the entire server inaccessible.
