Topic: Is this a reasonable belief to hold?

Catherine !ttGirlsPl2 started this discussion 7 years ago #81,189

The more I hear about Brexit, the more I am starting to suspect that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will never depart from the European Union regardless of the referendum. That the dream of an independent Britain is much like the dream of a Great Wall of America, a dream. Have there been any proposed dates for the departure yet?

Based on news this AM - UK ain't doing all that well with the leaving plan.

Given EU wants Britain to fail I doubt the pleads will amount to more than laffs by Eu

No its not really reasonable at all since the UK will exit this upcoming march, a date that has been enshrined in law for years.

There was a for sure date for their departure?
When in March are they leaving?

Yes on the 29th of March 2019, this date was specified in the European Union (Withdrawal) act 2018.

It's not an eviction if you're voluntarily moving out.

Not exactly "enshrined in law for years" then, huh?

The act was tied to the EU withdrawal notification act 2017.

Well I guess "enshrined in law for months but was tied to an older piece of legislation that didn't really mention a date but now we're pretty sure it's the end of March unless things change" doesn't have the same ring to it.

That's a bit complicated for OP

They should keep democratically voting until their democratic vote aligns with the views of the EU :^)

It's very unlikely we will be leaving. Theresa May's deal will keep us in the customs union (the EU lite) for an undetermined amount of time. That means we will have to follow the EU's rule with none of the say. This is BRINO. We should be leaving on WTO terms, but the media is pumping out propaganda that we Armageddon will happen if we do.

Brexit has and will hurt trade, Green. It's already caused several companies to leave or ramp down operations in the UK. You don't understand.

Northern Ireland backstop is a great idea because we can have full access to EU markets without paying anything. Blame the DUP for being so obstinate.

The government's mishandling, especially our wet blanket prime minister, of Brexit is hurting our trade. They have had 2 years to sort out trade deals with other countries, instead they have spent two years obfuscating what will happen when we leave the EU and trying their utmost to churn out anti-Brexit propaganda. We should have a FTA with America banged out for when we leave.

Not until after we leave, we haven't. Any extra-EU agreement must wait until we leave the EU.

Maybe we could have Wales, Scotland, and NI remain in the backstop, and England can have all the finger-licking chlorinated chicken.
