Topic: I am awaiting my orientation at the Department of Rehabilitation...

...it’s a service that helps those with disabilities get a job and become independent regardless of what that is. They might also help me with services to help me learn how to drive since I am going to tell them this is essential to me becoming independent as it would open a world of possibilities for me like doctor’s visits and job opportunities since I wouldn’t mind being able to work.

The waiting room is quite nice though the blank hallway of the building leading up to it is quite eerie and feels like it could be used for a setting of a haunting.

I have no idea what to expect since this is my first time here. I was referred to come here by my school councilor.

In which way are you disabled?

I asked if it’s only for physical disabilities, but this is for people with learning disabilities too. On the phone when they asked me that I said it was JUST learning disability and they that was fine. So don’t know, this is my first time here so I don’t know what to expect.

What learning disability do you have?

To answer that I have to go into detail about my test results which I'm going to do right now. I think I already talked about this in the past so if you really want to know you could search Minichan.org. They don’t give you an upfront answer like that since 1) they say their job isn’t to diagnose and 2) learning disabilities tend to be fluid.

Before anyone jumps the gun, no, Down’s syndrome and other conditions like that are not learning disabilities. If someone has a condition like that they don’t qualify as someone with a learning disability. In order to be found to have a LD you have to have an average or above average IQ. And they don’t tell you your IQ score since that isn’t what the testing is for. It’s not really used much to measure anything other than what I already mentioned.

You mean like those pray the gay away “specialists?”

@previous (D)
Funny you mention this since I do have to report gender dysphoria since it is a medical/mental condition. For some reason, I thought this didn’t count since it’s not really a disability but hey, if it helps me find a job who won’t discriminate then I’m game.

I have my intake appointment (they hand it out) on January 14th, 2019 @ 8:00 A.M.

Praying to Jesus the Jew never not even once worked for anyone. Even Jesus the Jew tried that with his Daddy~0 and we all found out how that failed.

I’m looking for a stable job while I continue school. They help you with the means of becoming independent. I’m thankful they exist actually and I’m glad I have to report gender dysphoria since they might help me with discrimination issues if any ever emerge. I don’t know, I haven’t had my intake appointment with one of their councilors. That is when we will discuss things.

@942,075 (B)
The school’s job is to test you not to diagnose you. That’s for doctors, therapists, etc.

Catherine !ttGirlsPl2 (OP) replied with this 7 years ago, 7 minutes later, 3 hours after the original post[^] [v] #942,131

@previous (B)
I never went to get diagnosed. They tested me. Gave me accommodations to help me succeed. That was enough for me.

They will know you are retarded and you won't be able to get a job. You'll be put in the "dudes in dresses" category and it will be up to your mom to support you forever.

They might give you some advice on how to get a slight raise in your allowance though. Consider doing your own dishes and washing your own clothes, for example.

@942,148 (B)
I was, but then I realized, I don't really care. The thought sometimes comes up, but what would knowing change? I already know I have issues in mathematics that I need to address. I already have accommodations that could help me learn better. What more could having a particular label provide other than to shut up maybe a few angry anons? Do we really need to be that obsessed with labels? I understand the reasons why labels exist and why they run rampant in the LGBT community, but eventually, can't we just fuck off with them?

The accommodations you might require that you didn't know you needed?

They don’t give that out either. But I can give you the results of that little IQ test that a certain Minichaner thinks is legit even though it’s just an online test not worth paying attention to.

I took that online IQ test twice and both times got a score of 101; one point above average. Nothing worth getting excited about though could provide material for a comedy bit where a character brags about being intelligent even though he is one point above average.

Perhaps things have changed but I remember back wayyyyyy back in High School days when a Counselor said I should skip a bunch of High School classes and register at a local college and take Math Science n such there and in that session I was curious about my IQ and counselor gave me my numbers. Two of them both damn damn nice BUT of course not that infamous bs 181

So I am betting all you have to do is ask. er a quick look at web and things may have changed - Anyway all those tests we all took one might ask IF We can get all those outcomes - Even a Freedom of Info request if need be

I took an IQ test and received a score of 181. Is that a good score, fora?

Catherine !ttGirlsPl2 (OP) replied with this 7 years ago, 8 minutes later, 2 days after the original post[^] [v] #942,778

@942,769 (Syntax)
They told us during the assessment course in order to qualify for their program and/or for additional accomendations that they don’t diagnose or reveal the IQ since the IQ is only for determining if you have a learning disability.

Honestly though, unless I have Mensa levels, why should I give a shit?

The fact that I have a learning disability at all indicates to me that I am at least average or above. Why should I care about the specific number?

Below average would be where it’s no longer learning disability and more Down’s syndrome, mental retardation, etc.
