@OP
It was actually Syntax's idea. He is the one who planned it all, and pitched it to Musk during one of their get-togethers.

SpaceX has filed applications with the FCC to launch nearly 12,000 internet-beaming satellites

OneWeb received approval to launch up to 720 satellites from the FCC, and it recently requested permission to launch an additional 1,260.

Boeing has proposed a 2,900-satellite constellation that is intended to provide broadband access to both commercial and government users.

NOR does it end there with OTHERS raising money to add to the Mess.

Thing is this is after multiple people like Bill Gates and others started similar ventures Failed

I do have a finger in the Pie but am not so much so free to discuss Except - I am not investing one thin dime on any of these projects -

Can say it's the 5G thing that is driving all of these ventures Just plain Nuts

Boeing has proposed a 2,900-satellite constellation that is intended to provide broadband access to both commercial and government users. In all, there will be an estimated 10,000 new satellites that will complement the already existing 1,000 satellites in near-Earth Orbits.
