Topic: ATTN Matt & Lynne: The Great Chinese Challenge

The two of you land in Hong Kong with $3,000 in cash. Matt uses his language skills he gained through higher learning and Syntax can use any of those free apps he claims make Matt’s language skills useless.
Whomever isn’t penniless and destitute by the end of the week wins $1,000,000.

Not Matt mon ami. @previous (C)
If he is able to purchase it for $3,000 or less then yes. All contestants are only allowed to wear the clothes on their back and are given a fanny pack with $3,000 cash in it. How they spend it is up to them.

Go to bed Matt. You're tired from collecting your food stamps.

Son, you continue to lie to these fine folks so much, everyone knows it's you.
Please son, your mother and I raised you better than this. We taught you that it's best to lie when you know you won't get caught. You've been caught son, give it up.

Matt has been to Hong Kong many times. He can speak the language (Mandarin AND Cantonese) and he can read Chinese (simplified AND traditional). He already knows the absolute cheapest rooms to rent, like the tiny ones without even windows. He knows the back alley places to eat delicious food for cheap. He knows how to get around, how to use the metro, etc. He even knows how to drink for cheap, and how to make friends. Matt would win, hands down.
Lynne would be wandering around screaming, "CHICKY CHICKY EXTRA CRISPY!" and "THEE THY OR EYE!", and people would treat him like a crazy homeless person. He would probably get robbed, or conned immediately.

So you don’t think his free app that translates English into to broken Chinese spoken aloud by a robotic voice through a small phone speaker would be equivalent to years of living abroad in China and upper level university courses in Chinese?

I think Syntax would starve to death because of his irrational fear that all food in China was cooked in a wok with sewer oil and contains cat and dog meat.
