DIY How to caulk your shower.

Three months later, I'm still getting videos like I'm the shower caulking king.

All that advanced AI that can drive cars and beat me at board games... Maybe you can figure out that I don't want to see home improvement videos now that I've solved my fucking problem?

There's no way to turn it off or delete your history either!

UPDATE: I Caulked my shower three months ago. It's great! The Internet still thinks I need a bunch of video about DIY fixes and caulking plumbing leaks! I don't! I'm done. I've fixed my shower! If AI systems are going to kill us, this is maybe a preview of how it will happen.

Why would I need any tip on how to fix my shower now that is it fixed? Well, AI systems don't understand how humans work. They just keep pretending that humans need predictive systems to tell them what is needed. Some times this is good. Humans need to know when to remain calm and call for help. Sometimes humans need that reminder. If a friend of yours has been murdered and had a knife sticking out of his chest, you probably need to remain calm, call for help, and not touch the scene of the crime.

Sometimes humans don't need to be told when to stop being emotional. For instance, if I fix my sink that has been giving me trouble. I don't need to be reminded to stop being emotional about my sink. I don't need to keep hearing comforting words about it's all going to be alright. I just need to move on. My sink is fixed. I'm okay with that.

This is how AI is going to kill us. Skynet is not about evil robots. It's about us gradually giving up control.

Internet algorithms are weird. It's like if you bought a refrigerator at a store, and then every time you walk in there after that, the salesman keeps showing you new and different kinds of fridges. Once you have one you really aren't in the market for more of the same.

do those only appear if you are signed into an account? I can't find these dots but I prefer not to have all this shit account-specific

It's interesting to see what kinds things pop up on browsers that I "don't keep any history" on. I have some doubts about how Chromium handles "incognito" accounts after some ads about shower remodeling.

Hey neat, I got a Family Guy "muppets don't sound right anymore" but it's in German and the Swedish Chef has a woman's voice in German!

I got "Lady Gaga in Swedish" after that. Hopefully I won't get a bunch of Swedish home repair videos now.

The fact this is coming from the smartest, richest, best technology company ever is what gets me. I mean it's not like Google lacks talent or money to fix this.

If Yahoo!'s video site did this I would just think they were retarded and couldn't figure out AI. But Google doing this makes me think there's got to be some kind of 3D chess thing going on.

But showing me videos of how to caulk my tub for the next three months isn't Google playing 4d chess with market pressures. It's just the YouTube algorithm being fucking stupid.

Machine learning recommendation algorithms just aren't that good yet. I think it's that simple tbh
