Tablets actually have some decent usages. I wouldn't recommend paying a full laptop price for one, but it is good having one around.
They're not completely worthless. The extra screen size compared to your phone and touchscreen interface does make not having a keyboard attached useful.

Then again, if you get one of those Microsoft tablets/computers then it's essentially having both.
