You probably weren't -or only just were- alive for the "The Big One" scare of the 80s. It involved Nostradamus. It didn't happen. It still hasn't happened 40 years later. It probably will happen. Just, you know, not in our lifetimes. California won't drop into the ocean. That's not how it will work. But there will be a major quake at some point. Hopefully it won't have to happen during the Trump administration because he will smirk and play around withholding federal aid from California because he is a dick.

I worried about it because the whole fucking state is a fault line and I'm near it. I think the San Andreas runs through the San Bernardino mountains. Unless the desert regions have some kind of earthquake code to their buildings. I think we would be fucked most of all. Ironic considering that we're fairly conservative and likely Trump supporters, but his dumbass probably only sees blue because of the election map.

We're on the Pacific rim. It's going to happen. Just don't live in anything that can fall on top of you too easily? It's probably not going to happen in a few million years. Even if it does, just... I don't know what to tell you. Hopefully it ends quick. If it doesn't it is going to suck.

I'm not sure if being on the second story (the highest level in my complex for most buildings) is a good thing or a bad thing.

I can't tell you either. I'm not a structural engineer. Have a plan. Water is key if you want to survive.

I remember the time I was asleep in bed with wife at time and then we woke up on floor - that was when Freeway 10 pancaked and we were living in Santa Monica.
I remember being asked to help a gal friend who had to move out of Northridge quickly because the house she lived in slipped off its foundation - The area looked like a bombed out war zone.
With that said North and South of me the Beach Bluffs keep falling on a regular basis. In the news about every 3-4 weeks or so and RECENTLY. I am a 4 minute walk north of me where a house totally fell off my bluff and was totally destroyed - Wayyyyy b4 I moved here and it's part of the Unique Church that is next door to me - Self Realization Fellowship.
Yet I honestly have never lost 10 microseconds of tyme in worry over the big one - Except perhaps a time or 3 when Rock Climbing close to a major fault and wondering what if such Quake were to hit. Naw was just 2 much fun and exciting to worry

I agree with Syntax on why worry about it. There is all kind of natural disasters to come get you depending on where you live. If you enjoy where you are at then enjoy it and if something gets you well at least you lived where you wanted to.
