Well first and foremost I have contempt for nobody. Even the gravest of sinners are still loved by God and by Jesus and (as their bishop on earth) by me. However if the question is about the weighing and balancing of sins, then I assess it this way -
Bert in your scenario is guilty of lustful acts, and homosexual ones to boot. He could also be accused of dereliction of duty, though without knowing the conflict he abstained from this may be a virtue rather than a sin. Pacifism and conscientious objection have their own set of morals.
Damien on the other hand is guilty of a string of false witnessing. He claimed to be a "military police officer" and said he "testified against many pedophiles in this role". When it was pointed out to him that "military police officers" don't actually do that, ever, he changed his story and said he did it as a civilian (not before demonstrating a hilarious ignorance about how the US legal system works, to the point that even his main supporter on Tinychan started to get embarrassed for him). "If I see pedophilia happening you think I turn a blind eye?" was his angry question, having been riled up by the ridicule. When he was asked to explain this ludicrous scenario which has him "seeing" innumerable instances of pedophilia as he goes about his days, he went anon and started posting his little pictures and memes again. "Lol u mad", that kind of thing. Damien's in his 50s doncha know?
In addition, he also posted about "niggers" and when he was asked if he thinks that's approrpiate behavior of a supposed veteran, he said his army buddies would find his jokes about "niggers" hilarious. What a credit he is to the 'service'.
Oh yeah, he also regularly posted pornographic images on Tinychan, which is a site that he knows underage people sometimes use.
So to sum up, Damien is the more egregious sinner.
He will now switch to some anon accounts and post memes about "obsessed", but nevertheless, you asked, and you have my answer.

I was asked by the OP to weigh the sins, which is what priests do. Judgement is God's alone, you are correct, and I specifically did not judge. I gave an inventory of the sins according to Catholic teaching. Judgement is deciding the punishment of those sins. Now you have yourself a blessed day my child.

Nope. You made a judgement. Judgement doesn't imply some form of punishment. Your conclusions are a judgement on their own. But you can call it semantics and get on with your day.

Agreed by the way. Frances Mcdormand is an incredible actress. I recently rewatched the Coens' 'The Man Who Wasn't There' and even in that relatively small role she's fantastic. Her husband (Joel Coen) always brings out the full range of her acting talent when he directs her.

I haven't read any of these posts and I'm not going to but I just thought I'd drop in and say thanks for keeping him in mind as a member of our community! I feel that too often our only clergyman is discriminated against simply for practicing his faith.
