That dumb as all fuck fool ended up claiming you change oil ever 500 miles or even less. Synthetic oil of course and ended up getting banned from the site.

Just mix some oil into your gas so it lubricates the inside of the cylinder

Changing oil every 3k miles is just to make big oil bigger. I change mine yearly.

Okay, thanks. I got pretty nervous that I waited too long for the oil change this time but they didn't say anything. It's a 2016 car that's at 20k miles and I just had the oil changed today for the second time, ostensibly 3k miles late but didn't seem to be an issue. They say it's due again at 23k miles but seems like 25-26k miles is fine, no?

man
I don't know if you want to get me started on machinery and motor maintenance and repair
I do it every day
its a YUUUUGE part of my life
I lost track of how much oil I had this year but I buy 20+ gallons at a time
anyways
what is the recommended interval these days?
8 thousand miles?
I will tell you the truck I drive the most is changed 2 thousand miles
*I normally go less than 10 miles
*I often have a load or trailer
*Often operating in dusty/dirtier than normal conditions
*this truck gets maybe 5 thousand miles a year
if you had a fairly new car with less than 100 thousand miles on it
and you are driving more than 10 thousand miles a year (not a ton of slow traffic)
then 8 thousand mile oil changes are probably ok

for my off road machines I do anywhere between 20 and 100 hours depending on which one it is

and you probably already know that the regular maintenance of a vehicle includes far more than changing motor oil and filter
I will list the service interval I do with the truck I drive the most
keep in mind it is in the conditions listed above
grease- 4 thousand miles
differential oil- 5 thousand miles
transmission fluid- 5 thousand miles
transmission filter- 30 thousand miles
^they are not spin on filters like motor oil filters for those of you who are not into this
transfer case oil- 5 thousand miles
spark plugs- 10 thousand miles
antifreeze- 12 thousand miles or every other year
power steering fluid and brake fluid- 20 thousand miles or once a year
air filter- inspect at 2 thousand miles and change as needed or after 5 years
I don't think I forgot anything

what viscosity oil should you use?
synthetic VS conventional?
omg I have to stop now or else I will be here putting this stuff out for 4 hours tonight and over 10 hours of thinking typing posting within 5 days
I am not joking

I forgot the fuel filter @928,671 (R)
I do 16 thousand miles
but if you were driving a car like 15 or 20 thousand miles a year then go 30 thousand it will be alright

This. Any man whom can't afford to have his butler change the oil in all his cars every day has no business being an motorist. Thanks.
