Externally hosted imageWill you be attending the MAGA rally in Houston? 100,000 RSVPs and a tailgater outside.

I love how Trump's version of campaigning for another politician is coming to their state and holding a Trump rally. He really doesn't understand things not being about him.

It reminds of Trump Steaks, Trump University, the Donald J. Trump menswear collection at Macy's... pretty much anything Trump. None of it was made or even designed by him.

Even a lot of "Trump" hotels didn't have any real connection with him, but just paid to license the brand because somehow the Trump name became associated with this really gauche, nouveau riche image of luxury.

So the Trump rally makes a lot of sense. The local politician getting Trump's endorsement is all that matters to Trump's fanbase. There's no need to campaign much beyond him just endorsing the Trump-approved politician.

That sort of seems to be his take on foreign policy too. Everything is "the worst deal I've ever seen" until he can stamp his name on it. The recent agreements on trade with Canada and Mexico that are basically 'NAFTA plus a few changes' are a good example. That was mostly Lighthizer negotiating that shit, but Trump's happy if he gets to stamp his name on it.

There are fans that follow Trump rallies around too like fans following Phish or The Grateful Dead concerts. He really is a demagogue, reality-TV president.

Yes!!! Obamacare will get some bullshit change (like cutting the medical device tax by 1% or whatever) and then it will be Trumpcare™ and will be the yuuugest ever, believe me.

I think someday we'll be able to have our cake and eat it too. The presidency will evolve into a ceremonial office (like an elected constitutional monarch) while behind the scenes, a permanent government of unelected, unknown, rabid centrist, Fake Anon-style policy wonks actually run things. We'll get a nice clean division between the public facing, elected government and the government that actually runs things. Then people will be able to vote Hulk Hogan for president without burning the country down. I think we're moving towards this already. I absolutely refuse to believe all these octogenarian senators are actually writing or even reading these 1,000 page bills. They take what lobbyists and staffers give them.

It'll be to where you can vote D or R, but the actual candidate won't matter anymore because you're just choosing whether you want DNC or RNC wonks to run things and the elected candidates themselves be like Winamp skins people can just change out as they please, without really changing the underlying software.

Do you also think there is a small chance USA merges with UK and perhaps to cut costs we share the Queen or King?

Well, it's some plausible deniablity I guess. The Trump X Plan will be the greatest thing ever, until it's not. Then he'll say he had nothing to do with it.

I'm okay with this.
