Topic: What makes The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild so special?

Anonymous A started this discussion 7 years ago #79,472

I just now loaded up the game after a long long absence since I figured that I'd continue on it instead of starting over since I already did two of the four beasts. This game is fantastically made and I love the openness of the world that even a stranger who passes you by feels like an event. This game really does feel like the Skyrim of the Nintendo Switch and Skyrim is a game that is available for the platform.

What makes you so jaded as a gamer, Catherine?

I thought it was kind of bad compared to Ocarina of Time. It was fun but the only thing I’d say was the main dungeons were lacking. The only dungeon that was really good was Hyrule Castle at the end.

Also the story was kind of blah, it was just a sci fi Wind Waker

She’s not jaded if you read what she wrote she actually liked it, she’s fishing for replies to see why other people liked it.

Yeah it’s not a bad game by any means my mistake. I would say that the DS Wind Waker sequels were bad though.

Never played it except for like 5 minutes then turned it off. Felt pretty bad but honestly all NES games are bad except the MARIO ones

I heard that game wasn't nearly as bad as many make it out to be. It was only perceived bad because at the time the franchise wasn't clearly defined as an RPG so they experimented with making it a platformer.

It’s amazing the jump from NES to SNES, link to the last is light years better than the original Zelda

I didn’t like how u kept having to redo that dungeon with the giant statues and how it was timed

That's fair. I don't like Zelda or Zelda 2, but those are just games that didn't age gracefully. I love the series as a whole though.
@926,332 (Catherine !ttGirlsPl2)
It is a subpar rpg with the obscure/cryptic roadblocks that many games on the NES had. If it weren't a zelda game, it would get a lot less hate.

I liked that part. You would get through the dungeon faster each time as you collected new items and abilities and learned your way around.

The first Zelda game aged just fine.
