I turned it on, but the input wasn't set to anything so it went to sleep. Then when I went to turn it on it just died. Now there is this disgusting burnt plastic smell in the air and I think there was a spark. It was like when an electric device in The Sims breaks down. It was that quick too.

Unplug the TV and use a fork to pry the plug socket in the wall open a little more, it'll let more electricity through and the TV will go for a few weeks longer before before it burns out completely.
