I'm a closet homosexual and have been in many situation with straight men where they express animosity/disgust for homosexuals (not lesbians, though, of course). Women are much, much more accepting, but I still think it's seen as abnormal somehow (for example, I was talking to some girl once and she said "My best friend is called [something], and he's gay", like if you're tolerant and accepting of gays, why even mention that? Maybe it was to see if I'm okay with homosexuality, dunno, weird. Anyway, what is it that makes straight men hate homosexuals? Do they see them as a threat? For me its not hate, cause Y hate? I grew up in an era where we only made fun of Gay men. None of my buddies expressed hate. Yes lots of disgust.

So I will add the clown factor. I lived/Worked in downtown San Francisco. Lots of gay men dress up and act a great deal like Clowns. Vivid memories of a guy down on all fours with a dog collar around his neck (full studded) and he had his arm out with hand holding leash. Doooooon't see too many straight dudes doing what one sees in San Francisco. Down here there is the Hillcrest area.

I used to spend lots of tyme in New Orleans and its very similar to San Francisco. Clowns lots of clowns. I always look at parents with kids on street as they try and explain to the kids why bozo is dressed the way he is.
