I missed this draad!
tl;dr it's gone forever, to save space and because image uploading was a liability. If you want inline transparency, convert images to (transparent) .gifs. If you want inline animation, as far as I can tell .gifs will animate if they're fewer than 30 frames and below 20MB. Kinda pants, but not my doing. ?

@previous (tteh !MemesToDNA) > .gifs will animate if they're fewer than 30 frames and below 20MB.
Many of my quality gifs for minichan no longer animate.
And the upload time is as slow as a 1912 Model T Ford. Current technology is equal to the first cell phone.

Upload a gif to Imgur and I'll take a look, but it's probably because they're either >20MB or have more than 30 frames. > And the upload time is as slow as a 1912 Model T Ford.
From mobile or desktop? Uploads are fast for me.

@previous (tteh !MemesToDNA) > or have more than 30 frames.
Not once never ever have I been inspired to count the number of frames in a gif. I do no how to inspect the elements and could but just have found no need.
That was Fuck Alms area of expertise because he took gif 101 102 & 103 classes in school. He used to analyze why some gifs worked without clicking on and others did not. Was usually correct. There were times he could not and that was because he had no time to take gif 104 thru 109
> Uploads are fast for me.
Speed of course is a Relative term You have been far to busy with dealing with the MC Report feature to notice how many chan users have posted quadruple posts because they expected the image to load via imgur yet failed to count off the time for uploading.
I have learned to endure the now Slow Loading by counting - Just as I have had to accept other backward steps that sometimes technology takes because of poor poor poor - Enough said, because sometimes instead of progress we find potholes along the road we travel

You can use this high-quality online tool to reduce the number of frames (Optimize → Optimization method → Drop every nth frame). You can also use Photoshop if you want to count the number of frames (Window → Timeline) but there's no need to. Most complex gifs are well over 30 frames, so there's unfortunately nothing that can be done for those, but we probably wouldn't want threads full of 100-frame, 50MB+ animated gifs anyway!
Regarding slow uploads, I have no idea why people are having problems. You don't need to use the Imgur [upload] link itself, you can upload via Imgur.com directly and then paste the direct link (e.g. https://i.imgur.com/PspLJvn.jpg) into the URL box. I don't know if that will help, but worth a try.

Oh yea that method is truly a way to save time.
After the 1st day of this mc advancement in chan technology I accepted the backwards nature technology sometimes takes - Others will learn as well.
Not once did I bother to complain until someone made this a topic
> Regarding slow uploads, I have no idea why people are having problems.
Because in the recent past the speed appeared to be almost faster than the speed of light and now its Not

Uploading to Imgur takes seconds for me, from my home IP, work IP and via VPN. Maybe Imgur has a problem with mobile uploading. Either way, we sadly have no control over how Imgur runs their service. Sorry and all that.

There's a really good book called Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other that covers the topic of technology and socialisation/human connection/loneliness/isolation. It's worth a read! Thanks.

The people pressing post before the image uploads... and then making the same mistake four more times... are quite frankly... R-worded.
The box fills with the URL when the upload is complete and it even give you a little percentage notice if you are using a non-shit browser.
So... yeah, calm down, relax, let your image upload... and then press post. Thanks.

LOLOLOLOL
The thing is - Prior to this revolutionary need to > relax, let your image upload...
There was NO NEED TO WAIT - Got that No need to wait - Hummmmm perhaps my dyslexic English is not sufficient.
Perhaps you have been around since the days of Dial up - where we all learned to wait and wait to connect and then often it did.

that's because it wouldn't upload until you pressed post
now it uploads when you upload

I think you have short term memory reduction
You can see a new topic on tc titled Testes
You click Browse Select image - File appears faster than the speed of light or so it seems. Then you hit post. Its not possible to hit post and miss the file uploading.
I cannot prove that is true because it wood take some effort for me to install a dial up connection
So let me disagree with you on your current analysis - Try a reply on my Testes topic and remind Yeself.
This exercise is good for me because b4 I hit the road later for my early day/nite of R/L fun for a Friday, I have what is promised to be a very short meeting to vote using democracy at a meeting. Rare that happens. I am making notes on how to throw a monkey wrench into that vote and then leave the meeting. I am 100% sure I will stop them cold hard in tracks to decide one way or the other Because either direction is just FUCKED Rong I am a stock holder as well as consultant and I will be damned b4 I let them waste my money corporate wise
Timed the upload speed for this image - Image is 336KB and upload speed is 11.5 MBS and time to show Upload was 2.7 seconds

You are going senile faster than ever... The way it was before; When you selected the image for uploading, it wasn't uploaded yet... you were still waiting for the upload but it was hidden because it occurred after you pressed post.

Nope.
You need to go to TC and give it a try and again I just did with a test reply and upload of a 2nd image and no I did not need to post it
Hit Reply
Hit Browse
Hit File name
File name appears as far as I can test it - As faster than the speed of light
Hit Post
Except I did not post it but will if you insist

OP is right the new uploaded thing is slower but I don’t really care because it’s like 2 seconds slower. Hosting images takes up space and is more costly. So why not just use imgur? Makes more sense.
Anonymous J replied with this 7 years ago, 9 minutes later, 3 weeks after the original post[^][v]#925,038
that doesn't mean you have uploaded anything... the upload is happening when you press post... so you're "testing" the wrong thing...
YES, your browser knows what file it will upload... INSTANTLY IT KNOWS AS SOON AS YOU TELL IT! yes! But the upload is after you submit... this isn't hard to understand.

No that is not how it works.
With your logic you are going to find it difficult to explain why it now takes so long.
It takes so long because now with imgur as the only option there is the time it takes to access the external server - Then for the hard drive in that server to accept the image and then for that file to report back as uploaded - 2 to 4 seconds depending on time of day and traffic etc
Bottom line which is really about how business is managed for input output - Time as OP will attest as well as you IF you were to post a lot of images is IT is now S L O W E R
You say > But the upload is after you submit.
And if it were Technology Speedy which it ain't there wood be no one making note of the change.
The other important thing is - For whatever reason Imgur treats animated gifs differently
Many that used to work as Animated no longer work without clicking on the image. Imgur has always been the preferred method for my choice to post large files because of the lower limits imposed by MC. So I am used to using it when necessary. It often disappointed me because of the animated gif problem

I am so pleased you enjoy technology at the pace of old Dial Up
With that time to shower shave and split for a silly meeting where I plan on stunning them with my wit and then quickly exiting as I abstain from voting.
Do have a nice day/nite without my contributions here
