They are both basically the same thing. I think enchilada sauce is just a watered-down version to use in cooking, often without as much vinegar as you might find in a picante sauce meant to be used at the table.

Enchilada sauce was invented by a dead guy.

I'm pretty sure it was invented by Syntax back when he was advising Spanish settlers to the Americas on how to spice up taco Tuesday.

Take a quick skim at each link and you will notice each sauce is unique - complex and different.
Photo is the Ancho dried chili for the Enchilada sauce. Next photo shows a very different dried chili for the Taco Salsa

Was this around the time he was advising Montezuma II on his gold reserves?

Considering that I am the only one in this thread that took the time to find decent examples out of the horrid many many Recipes for Enchilada and Taco sauce.
And for the record I have never once made Enchilada sauce YET have worked real hard at researching and making many versions of Taco Salsas -
> if op thinks 'taco sauce' is a thing he's probably never had a real taco and that was my guess at what he might consider to be taco sauce reading comprehension etc
Clearly there are worlds of difference between the two sauces and experiences you will get.
One Mongoloid Idiot MC person many times suggested to me that one should make such sauces with Fresh and not Dried Chili's - That is just nonsense

Nonsense you also had the time to answer OP's question.
Your contribution was > if op thinks 'taco sauce' is a thing he's probably never had a real taco
OP probably never had a real Enchilada either. Such is difficult to find unless one lives where Mexican's REAL Mexicans live - Ones Trump has yet to deport
