When I'm trying to get to sleep, yes. Like right now. I actually just came onto MC to try and avoid the thoughts I was having while trying to get some rest a few minutes ago. All the things I fucking hate thinking about come out during the hours in which I try to sleep. Obviously this is because I'm not so occupied and distracted like I am throughout the day. It makes me feel miserable. Always the worst part of the day for me. Shitsux.

I guess that would be alright. I often do think too much when trying to actually sleep, so yeah.

This. The worst part of the day for me is when I have my thoughts for myself. I wish I could turn it off whenever I like. Just so long as it is what it does. No attachments involved like the effect of dreaming or anything.

I wish I could turn it off, and never have it come back on.

How would you turn it back on? Would it be thought-activated?
Anywho, I can, to a degree. I only need to think enough to be alerted to basic bodily needs. It's not like shutting it down, more like putting it in sleep mode. Everything is redirected to subconscious unless something important comes up.

Yes. I always think about extremely embarrassing things I've done, the only way to stop these thoughts for me is to smoke some weed.

Oh god, it gets so much worse for me when I smoke weed. Unless I do the one thing that takes my mind off those thoughts. Then it's gravy.

Really deep stares of meditation can do that.
It's a challenge to avoid starting another feedback loop of observations and evaluation aka conscious thought, but it's possible.
It gets interesting once you find out how to slow down your resting heart rate at will

I don't actually know the name of any terms. I've tried various methods such as rhythmic breathing, and tensing and relaxing each muscle.

Ah yes, I've heard of that problem.
Thing is, meditation is a fairly natural state of mind, and you probably entered a trance many times per accident.
