it's very unlikely that Dell make their own LCDs. Probably contracted out to major LCD vendors. It is easy to find out because of the FCC Law.
FCC Declaration of Conformity label on each monitor. The actual manufacture must be included on that label.

Jacking up the RAM to max the laptop will take AND going SSD is a great way of extending the older lap top. The idea of upgrading the CPU is crazy.

Acer has gotten a bit better for that but they still break relatively easily
