You cannot save an economy in 2 years outside of a post-war scenario. Economies simply do not actually respond that quickly. Hell, if anything what we're currently seeing is the result of early Obama/late Bush policies because economies are slow, ponderous beasts that cannot be turned on a time the way both sides of the debate love to claim.

Reading through tweets from the beginning of the year is hilarious. Trump and friends were so happy to point at the market's climbing numbers in late January. As soon as the drops came in early February they all suddenly started talking about how short term changes in the market don't mean anything. It's all just rhetoric to claim the good for yourself while finding someone to blame for the bad. Most of it is just about convincing stupid people that you have it all figured out.
