He's over. He's getting a massive push. Yeah, he had to go back down to the IC level, but many guys start there before going to the main event spot. It's just that nowadays guys who WWE tried to push hard too soon fall back down before they re-ascend. Roman Reigns is good in-ring though he's never going to be over to where WWE wants him to be, that John Cena / Hulk Hogan level, which is why Seth Rollins is going to be the face of the company someday if he isn't already.
Regardless of whether they practice mixed martial arts or not, doesn't change the fact that it's all orchestrated.

MMA is fake as well. Can't remember where I saw it, but they showed a clip where one fighter went to punch a guy in the face, and CLEARLY missed by a mile, but yet 3 seconds later, the other guys head finally went backwards, and he fell to the floor.....
