I don't know who "they" are but here are a bunch of distinctly white people fighting and the title calls them "youths". I think you just have like this sense where any time you see the word "youths" you immediately look for black or muslim people and if you see them then you pat yourself on the back for somehow "cracking the code" but when the term is used to refer to white people you just ignore it because it doesn't fit the outcome you already decided must be true.

19 year olds are young to me but idk. "Youth" doesn't have the exact same definition as "minor" so I do not think it's obviously wrong to call an 18 19 or 20 year old a youth since they are actually youthful compared to most people. I don't read that much tabloid/racebaiting media so I don't have an in depth knowledge of their word choice but seeing as a cursory google search turns up articles where "youths" refers to minors, recent adults, white people and racial minorities I just don't seem to be able to find the world you inhabit where it only means 45 year old muslim immigrants or whatever.

I'm guessing the latter. If it were non-migrant Swedes the media would be all over it because it would be a perfect rebuttal to Trump's assertions that migrants are causing crime in Sweden and actually white men are the real terrorists.

Yeah I wasn't accusing you of doing that, but I don't mind the term. "Adult" is arbitrary in that a guy who turns 18 the day after the crime was committed technically would have been a minor but if he waited 24 hours suddenly he's a whole other category of human being. That's a little bit of a sorites paradox but I think it makes sense to have kind of broader terms. A 52 year old punching someone seems to me different enough from a 19 year old punching someone that using the same term for both misses some nuance. Not that "youth" is the perfect word. News articles could just say like, "a group of men aged 16-24" or something similar but I think for brevity's sake they just stick to one word.

In USAmerica they don't say "youths" when they are blacks. They call them "urban youths" or "inner-city youths" so you know how black they are.
