That is what makes this religion seem weird to me. Women's rights took a backseat somewhere yet from what I read in the Qur'an (though it is an English translation, but voted one of the best Arabic-to-English ones), it treats men and women almost equal to one another. I suppose this is what lead me to research more about the culture because something tells me that some things may have went astray from the scripture. But that isn't exactly a new phenomenon since there are Christians who don't seem to adhere to their scripture either.
