Yeah it just wasn't something I heard that much about other than here.

Zero, but I had about a hundred by farming on my old laptop for a little bit when no one took them seriously. I didn't transfer them up to this.
Feels bad man.

Mt. Gox will sell them to you for USD. Use Dwolla to pay.
You could also try selling something for Bitcoins, built up a reputation, become an entrepreneur.

So people can get their Bitcoins, and then cancel their payments, and get their money back? Paypal makes it very easy to withdraw your money after an order, but Bitcoin payments are irreversible.
Or so Mt. Gox can have their funds stolen like Minecraft, Cryptome, AnonTalk, WikiLeaks and a million other sites have had happen to them?

Are you new? Paypal closed their account a while back. Ask anyone that's been around long enough.
Whether they should have or shouldn't have, it's still a common policy of Paypal to steal funds.
It's not a difficult concept. Using paypal will mean that anyone can get free bitcoins from Mt.Gox, and the money they do make can be frozen and stolen.

I bought coins from some guy at https://bitmarket.eu/ earlier, paid using Paypal. You need to prove you're trustworthy first by showing them an eBay account you have with positive feedback (there are some other methods of proving your trustworthiness but I forget). They make you send the payment as a gift so it's harder to reverse.
Also, if you're using Mt. Gox right now, there is currently a dump of the DB for sale and a few CSRF exploits were just patched but more exist I'm sure. Simple way of understanding CSRF is you log into Mt. Gox, visit malicious Bitcoin related site that automagically POSTs data to your Mt. Gox session, such as transferring BTC out to another wallet.

Well then, you know that AnonTalk did have their funds taken by Paypal.
So did Minecraft, Wikileaks, cryptome, and many others.
It would be retarded for Mt. Gox to do it.

And yet there are MANY merchants who haven't had that happen.

Wonderful, but even if Mt. Gox is assured they will not have their funds frozen, anyone could buy some Bitcoins, do a chargeback, and Paypal will give them their money back.
Mt. Gox can't get their Bitcoins back, however, and therin lies the problem.
It's so easy to do this, that many people would.
Mt. Gox is already making $40k daily from their small transaction fee, they aren't going to risk losing hundreds of thousands of dollars to appease lazy-asses like you.

Zero, and this doesn't bother me at all, as I still don't know how they work. Even after being told a couple times by a couple people who are seemingly knowledgable about them.
bitcoins r dumb

Even if you don't know how they work, you can sell them for big bucks.
