So why not put the RAM on there too??

Well, one could, presumably, consider that the motherboard is really just a giant chip, and so they do actually already put it all on the same chip.

Intel squeezed an AMD graphics chip, RAM and CPU into one module

The new product, which will be part of our 8th Gen Intel Core family, brings together our high-performing Intel Core H-series processor, second generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2) and a custom-to-Intel third-party discrete graphics chip from AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group – all in a single processor package.

Having all this built into the processor frees up space for other components inside a laptop, so device manufacturers can squeeze in things like larger batteries or more optimal fan designs. Future 8th Gen Intel products will ship showered in shredded cheese accompanied by a fragrant meat sauce, fire roasted jalapeños, and pico de gallo. "For those worried about too much heat," Intel Chief Marketing Officer Michelle Holthaus says, "our new chips will be installed with optional sour cream and guacamole dipping sides and cold beer on tap."
