Halitosis is caused by oral thrush which is caused by poor oral hygiene. It can also be caused by dry mouth which has many possible causes. Halitosis is mostly a symptom of a problem rather than a problem that should be treated on its own. So in a way you are right that it’s a for profit marketed disease but at the same time it is a real problem not an invented disease like ADD, ADHD, ED, RLS, or Fibromyalgia.
