We have a great relationship. Shit happens, but have a strong enough relationship that we can be mature about it. I mean, one of the main reasons we split is because her parents hate my guts. Not really a problem between us, but she respects her parents. I'm patient and truly committed.

Here in the states: Generally speaking the man brings home all the money, buys the house, cars etc, in a divorce she gets it all, you might get 50% of your bank account IF you're lucky and a few personal effects. For the privalage of giving her everything you get to pay alimony, monthly payments for a time determined by the judge (usually years). On top of all that she gets the kids, no questions asked and for that you get to give her even more money lol.
Its sickeningly ridiculous. There is no advantage to a piece of paper that says she's entitled to all your shit when you split, and chances are good you will split, no matter how much you'd like to think otherwise, its a statistical fact.
