Excerpt: I reached an epiphany. It was like everything I thought was captured in a book; and I suppose I shouldn’t be too proud of my philosophy being so easy to define, but for the first time in my life it felt like my mind was not clouded. It became clear what my goal was: overthrow the decadence of this sickening town. I suppose my practices could be considered “radical,†but if the land wasn’t soaked in Capitalist blood and the air didn’t smell of revolution by the end of tonight, nothing was going to change.

It's better than most of what I've read online. This might be my Cold War obsession getting to me, but have you considered the individual being a native-born American communist sympathizer in the early-mid 1980s? It seems like it would fit in more, and offer a way to draw parallels between the society then and our current society.

I was planning on setting it in a southern state in modern times, but setting it in the 80's is actually a brilliant idea. Definitely makes more sense in that context, plus it'll be fun to play around with 80's culture, like in American Psycho

Ty. I'd recommend reading a spy novel/watching a spy movie or two to get a feeling for the atmosphere.
