The burger was nice. Props to the chips, I was something them to be rubbery but they were instead merely mushy. Highly nutritious meal, lots of protein. 10\10!

You're supposed to go back and fill in the "something" with the word you eventually decide upon, not just leave it in there. 'Expecting' would have worked there. 'Anticipating' would also have worked, though you'd have had to tweak the grammar a bit. Awaiting, presuming, surmising. Many options.
