Topic: The abuse of children on the US border is immoral and contrary to Catholic values - Pope Francis

Father Merrin !u5oFWxmY7U started this discussion 8 years ago #76,407

I join His Holiness The Pope in denouncing the abuse of children by the American government and I shall pray for a swift end to this inhumanity. Join me please:

Loving Father, in your infinite compassion we seek your divine protection for refugee children who are alone and afraid. Comfort them in their sorrow, and bring help in their time of need. Guide those children who are strangers in a foreign land to a place of peace and safety, and reunite them with their families and loved ones.

For this we pray through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

Popes protect pedophile priests. Most of the Popes are pedophiles themselves.

They 'protect' the Catholic Church. The Priests are always admonished.

> Most of the Popes are pedophiles themselves.

Any proof of this wild claim, or are you just bearing some false witness here?

Not true. After a few hail Mary's they are relocated to another church to continue their pedophilia.

Pope reduces sanctions against many of the paedophile priests

Pope Francis has quietly reduced sanctions against a handful of paedophile priests, applying his vision of a merciful Church even to its worst offenders in ways that survivors of abuse and the Pope’s own advisers question.

One case has come back to haunt him: An Italian priest who received the Pope’s clemency was later convicted by an Italian criminal court for his sex crimes against children as young as 12. Fr Mauro Inzoli is now facing a second church trial after new evidence emerged against him, The Associated Press has learned.

The Inzoli case is one of several in which Francis overruled the advice of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) and reduced a sentence that called for the priest to be laicised, two canon lawyers and a Church official told AP. Instead, the priests were sentenced to penalties including a lifetime of penance and prayer and removal from public ministry.

In some cases, the priests or their high-ranking friends appealed to Francis for clemency by citing the Pope’s own words about mercy in their petitions, the Church official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the proceedings are confidential.

“With all this emphasis on mercy … he is creating the environment for such initiatives,” the Church official said, adding that clemency petitions were rarely granted by Pope Benedict XVI, who launched a tough crackdown during his 2005-2013 papacy and laicised some 800 priests who raped and molested children.

Pope Francis Absolves 2,000 Pedophile Priests – “No Arrests Necessary”

Pope Francis has come under fire after announcing that over 2,000 pedophile priests will not face criminal prosecution and may be absolved by the Vatican for their heinous crimes.

Speaking to reporters aboard the Papal plane on Saturday, Francis responded to criticism leveled at the Vatican’s handling of sex abuse cases by Marie Collins – an Irish child abuse survivor who resigned from Francis’ internal sex abuse advisory commission in March.

According to Fox News, Pope Francis acknowledged that the Vatican has a 2,000-case backlog in processing clerical sex abuse cases and says criticism of the slow pace was justified. But he says more staff are being added and insists the Vatican is ‘on the right path.’

In this instance, “on the right path” likely means “we’re going to do nothing about it.” The Church has a long and dark history of covering up pedophilia cases and protecting priests caught raping children. Earlier in May, the Vatican also come under fire for forgiving a priest who admitted to raping 30 young children, infecting them with the HIV virus.

You trivialise the Act of Contrition (and spread lies about 'continuing their pedophilia'). If a Priest has truly repented of his sins, and suffered for them through prayer and self-searching, and has earnt God's mercy, then why shouldn't he be forgiven? It is not so simple a process as saying "a few Hail Marys". We are talking here about the very long and complex process of repentence.

Catholic Church moved priests, allowing pedophiles to target more children

The Catholic Church's catastrophic and inexcusable failures to deal with pedophiles in its ranks in Australia led to more children being sexually abused by its Ballarat clergy, a royal commission has found.

Protecting the church's reputation and avoiding scandal drove the Diocese of Ballarat's handling of abuse complaints spanning at least three decades, the inquiry has found in its report released today.

Former Ballarat bishop Ronald Mulkearns led the extraordinary failures, with the child abuse royal commission slamming his appalling conduct and reckless indifference to children's safety.

When allegations surfaced priests were moved to another parish where they often offended again.

Ladies and gentlemen, please let the record show that Anon E is now peddling instantly verifiable nonsense and infamous hoaxes:

From the article:

"Neon Nettle is a frequent purveyor of viral fake news stories and conspiracy theories, and nothing published on that site should be believed without further investigation. In this case, we found no evidence that a Mexican priest named Jose Garcia Ataulfo was accused of child rape and then crucified, or that such a person even exists at all"

Congratulations Anon E, you have just successfully napalmed the last vestige of your credibility. I have made such a mess of you.

If the laws of the land say so, then yes. I'm not sure what authority you think the Vatican has to start locking people up in other countries.

But you again clearly don't realise the depth or severity of the Act of Contrition to a man of God. Being 'locked up in prison' is only a physical punishment. It takes away physical freedom. Whereas repentence is a painful, spiritual cleansing and vulnerability before God. It is impossible for people who are not men and women of God to understand this, which is why you think in simple, animalistic frames of punishment like 'putting somebody in a locked room for a long time'.

A properly contrite and penitent person is by definition no danger to anyone. To lock up a truly repentent person for the purpose of safety would be pointless.

I completely agree. "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's" (Romans 13:1). In other words, the laws of the land are their own thing, and must be obeyed as part of the social contract. Whereas the Covenent between God and man is separate and its own thing.
