Dummies go back to origin of the current time marker which was somewhat arbitrary. 100 years '''AFTER, the first century was completed, it was called arbitrarily the 1st Century.
So each century’s numerical designation is always 100 years ahead, we are now in the 21st century, while it’s only 2018. Another way to express it is; we are 18 years into the 21 century and in 82 years, the 22 century will begin with 2100.
This is a case where a time line was set based on Jesus the Jew dying hung out to dry, which defined at some point Before Christ and at some point which is still not clearly defined as anything beyond as After Death
Clearly our current date should be really based as time starting at the point of the Big Bang. However current science only allows an approximation of around 13.8 billion years ago. The exact date where we are currently at will be determined one day with more better science.
