She faked a medical problem to get out of the White House, and while at the hospital, slipped out the back door and into Mueller's strong Marine arms."Oh, Bob," Melania cooed against Robert Mueller's hard chest outside the service entrance of the hospital. Night had fallen, the sky was leaden with clouds that promised rain, and a stiff wind bore with it the earthy rot of the nearby swamp. "I tell you anyting. Anyting!! Just proteckt me from... from him!"
"Don't you worry, Toots," Bob said, lifting his rugged jaw as a siren sounded in the distance. "Your kid's in the limo along with the papers for your new identity."
"I so grateful. I do anyting for you, Bob," Melania purred, tracing her finger down his neck. "Anyting at all."
Bob took her hand and lowered it. He stepped back a pace and gave her a gentle shove back into the arms of his spokesman, who had come up behind her. "Get her into the limo. I'll call when we're ready for her statement." He turned and climbed into a black sedan. His face disappeared behind the tinted glass as the door closed.
As the car drove off, consumed by the fog that lingered on the service road, Melania turned to the spokesman, who still held her. He pulled a coat around her to stave off the night's chill. "I just turn on the only man who could destroy me. I never be safe again. Promise me we will win!" She clutched at his collar, her voice rising in desperation.
With a faraway gaze as he spotted the golden pink hint of dawn on the eastern horizon, Robert Mueller's spokesman whispered, "The investigation has no comment to make at this time."
